About this object
Les Darcy was an Australian boxer, whose career spanned from 1910 to 1917. He was born near Maitland in 1895, and his amazing career record and boxing prowess earned him the nickname ‘The Maitland Wonder’. The MRAG has a vast Les Darcy collection, celebrating and preserving the memory of the young boxing legend.
Jeff Smith was an American middleweight boxer, who was active from 1912 to 1924. He fought Darcy twice, defeating Darcy the fiirst time and losing to him the second. He held the Australian middleweight title until his loss to Darcy.
