About this object
Les Darcy was an Australian boxer, whose career spanned from 1910 to 1917. He was born near Maitland in 1895, and his amazing career record and boxing prowess earned him the nickname ‘The Maitland Wonder’. MRAG has a vast Les Darcy collection, celebrating and preserving the memory of the young boxing legend.

Johnny Summers was an English featherweight, lightweight and welterweight boxer who held the British and Commonwealth welterweight boxing titles. His career spanned from 1901 to 1920. Although Darcy, who competed in the middleweight division, never fought Summers, he was considered a top-tier boxer during Darcy's time, thus his inclusion in MRAG's collection.
