About this object
Les Darcy was an Australian boxer, whose career spanned from 1910 to 1917. He was born near Maitland in 1895, and his amazing career record and boxing prowess earned him the nickname ‘The Maitland Wonder’. MRAG has a vast Les Darcy collection, celebrating and preserving the memory of the young boxing legend.
Tom McCormick was an Irish welterweight boxer whose career spanned from 1911 to 1915. He held the British welterweight and the world welterweight titles. He was unfortunately killed serving in France during the First World War. Although Darcy, who competed in the middleweight division, never fought McCormick, he was considered a top-tier boxer during Darcy's time, thus his inclusion in MRAG's collection.
