About this object
Nora Heysen is best known for her still life and portrait paintings, and was the first woman to win the Archibald Prize. In 1938 she won the Prize with her portrait of Mme Elink Schuurman in 1938. She was also the first woman to be appointed as an Australian official war artist (during the Second World War).
