About this object
Euan Macleod is best known for his expressive landscapes, with the figure within, however he also paints portraits of the people in his life, including self portraits such as this painting which are not only a self representation but also an internal interrogation.
In 1999 Euan Macleod entered the Archibald Prize for the first time and his self portrait, 'Self-portrait/head like a hole', took out the winning prize. His most recent entry to the Prize, his portrait of fellow artist Blak Douglas, was a finalist in the 2021 Archibald Prize on display at MRAG in 2022.
