About this object
John Martin (1942-2017) lived in Allandale, close to Maitland. He also spent time in Berlin and his works were influenced by the landscapes of both regions.
He served as Maitland's Mayor from 1994-1996.

"Friedhof Series relate to a Berlin cemetery near his studio. This is a beautiful garden in which many famous Germans are buried. John spent a lot of time walking and contemplating in this garden." -Artist's wife, Rachel Frecker
