Significance
The plaque is significant as one of a number of plaques in the Maitland Hospital collection that commemorate the opening of a new building or facility on the hospital site. As a group, the plaques assist in tracking specific dates and events that mark the opening or foundation of particular buildings. They also identify dignitaries involved with the opening. In 2022 some of the plaques are still in situ on the old hospital site, others are in storage. - Janis Wilton, 2022
