Uncle Sam Squires is a Wonnarua Elder. Uncle Sam is a member of the Wonnarua Elders Painting Group, who have been meeting since 2012 at the Rutherford Neighbourhood Centre. Working side by side, chatting, sharing techniques and stories, each artist has been able to develop their individual painting style and follow their own ideas, drawing on their memories and knowledge of growing up and living on Wonnarua Country.
